Title: The Thomas Crown Affair
Year: 1999
Genre: Heist, Romance

The Thomas Crown Affair was loose remake of the original 1968 film with the same name. The 1999 film was directed by John McTiernan and stars Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo on the lead roles.

Thomas Crown, a rich businessman who owns a multimillion dollar company decides to steal a Monet painting valued at $100 million from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Catherine Banning, a bounty hunter was sent by the insurance company, who was the insurer of the stolen Monet painting, to find out who stole the painting and put him to jail. Catherine begins to suspect Thomas after finding certain leads that put Thomas Crown on the top of the list of suspects. She must now find a way to prove that Thomas Crown was the own who really stole the painting. The two of them was thrown into a game of cat and mouse begins as they desperately try their best to outwit each other. Little did they know that the game which they started will ultimately end in the both of them falling in love with each other. Thomas Crown must now return the painting he stole from arguably one of the most guarded museum in US soil, in order for he and Catherine to fly out of the country not being branded as fugitives.

The Thomas Crown Affair is set on New York City. The film features wit, drama, and romance all at the same time. It tackles about the life of a rich businessman who decides to steal a painting from a museum out of boredom, and the woman who wants to put him behind bars. The Thomas Crown Affair has a sharp heist feel to it with the protagonist always outwitting the antagonist.

The film stars Pierce Brosnan who starred as the cunning 007 agent in five James Bond films. Rene Russo on the other hand portrays Catherine Banning.
These two people are reason enough for you to watch the film. They have been known as great Hollywood actors and they surely proved that those stories are true when they portrayed their roles with excellence on The Thomas Crown Affair.

I have always been a die hard fan of heist movies so I'm all positive on this one. The Thomas Crown Affair may not become a classic but it is definitely a great movie. The visual effects are top notch for movies like this. It doesn't go overboard with the visual effects and it is very realistic in it's time period.

If you like to watch a great film then I totally recommend The Thomas Crown Affair. It's the kind of movie that will definitely make you sit on your chair not wanting to miss any part of it. There are steamy scenes though so if you are planning to watch this with your children then make sure that you make them cover your eyes when those not-suitable-for-children scenes show up. However, if you don't have small kids then prepare that bag of chips and get ready to watch one great movie.

8/10
