Title: Final Fantasy X
Year: 2001
Genre: RPG
Platform: PlayStation 2
Developer: Square

Final Fantasy X or commonly known as Final Fantasy 10 is a role playing game produced and developed by Square. It belongs to probably the best gaming series ever developed, the Final Fantasy Series. Final Fantasy 10 was the first game in the Final Fantasy Series that was released on the Play Station 2. It is also the first game in it's series to be in full three-dimensional in it's every aspect. The active time battle was replaced by the conditional turn-based battle system. Final Fantasy 10 also used a new leveling system known as the Sphere Grid.

You take on the role of Tidus, a popular blitzball player in his city of Zanarkand. The blitzball stadium where Tidus and his team are currently having a match was suddenly attacked by monsters coming from another dimension. Tidus together with his friend Auron, were sucked by a large monster known as Sin and they were transported to the land of Spira. Tidus then meets a girl named Yuna and he found out that Yuna is on a pilgrimage to stop this so-called Sin. He decides to join them on their journey to end the reign of the monster. Little did they know of the secrets that lies ahead. The same journey that brought them together may also bring them apart.

When I saw how the new CTB system worked I immediately fell in love with it. The old ATB system required you to think fast or otherwise suffer a turn. The CTB system got rid of that handicap. You can now think more of the things that you'll do in battle and the strategy that you'll use in order to bring down every monster that you encounter.

Final Fantasy 10 also released a new leveling system and I like it so much. There were these keys that you'll acquire as you went through the game and you can use those keys to unlock skills and attributes of your character in your sphere grid. This opens up to new character builds. You can have Auron who is known as a slow attacker to attack just as fast as Tidus or you can get Yuna who is a white mage to cast powerful black magic. There are many more combinations that you can do and it's all up to you actually. The Sphere Grid System is also some form of a challenge to seasoned gamers. You can no longer do power grinding if you want to defeat a certain boss instead you need to really think of a good strategy.

The world of Spira is huge. You can go to many places and since this is in 3D, expect those places to be very beautiful. The places in Final Fantasy 10 is said to be based on South East Asia. There are temples, plains, ruins, underground caves, etc. You'll definitely have a great time exploring Spira.

If there is one game that I'll remember for the rest of my life then it is certainly this game, Final Fantasy X. The story line was unlike any other. There are going to be twists and turns in every corner and you will certainly cry when you watch the ending. It has great replay value. You can play this game a hundred times and still love it even more. This game is already a classic in it's own right much like Final Fantasy 7. This for me, is the greatest game for the Play Station 2 ever created and I would like to thank all the guys behind Final Fantasy 10 for making me experience this one hell of a game.

10/10
